Favorite thing about UMHB
I love going to the football games to cheer on the Cru, but I also love getting a scoop of Crunilla ice-cream too. It is a perfect serving of vanilla, but even better. It’s purple!
I came to UMHB in 2012 and during my 4 years here, I was involved in First Year Council, Revival, and Miss MHB. I also met my husband, Daniel, during my time here - I never would have thought that I would marry my college lab partner! We married in 2017 and now live in Temple, TX with our two dogs, Daisy and Nash. We spend our time hiking, cheering for the San Antonio Spurs and collecting records for our record player.
I zip lined one of the largest and highest zip line tours in the world while on a mission trip in Costa Rica. Yes, I cried.
In high school, I was actually looking at schools out of state. I heard about UMHB from my mom, but I didn’t really want to experience college only an hour away from home. But, she kept telling me, “Let’s just go for one visit, let’s just go for one visit.” I guess moms are always right after all, because one visit and that was all it took for me to realize that UMHB was going to be my home for the next 4 years! I loved the campus and felt very welcomed. Even though I was an hour away from home, UMHB really embraces its own community; it is a community of faith, tradition and encouragement. I was able to grow spiritually and as a young woman more than I could have ever imagined. Not only was I investing in my future, the professors also invested in my future. It gives me joy to share the wonderful experiences I have had with UMHB to potential students. It is definitely true - Once a Crusader, always a Crusader!
